John Jensen was a cartoonist and illustrator whose early career included work for the London Evening News. The original illustrations presented here date from that period.

The works were discovered at a car boot sale, where they were identified as Jensen’s. The attribution was later confirmed by the artist himself in direct correspondence — Jensen recognised the drawings and described them as “ancient stuff of mine.” Several pieces bear studio stamps from his London address.
